Stafford Sinfonia is 48 this year and we continue to go from strength to strength.

Since our inception, we have grown from being a very small group of instrumentalists comprising staff, students and friends of the North Staffs Polytechnic, into an orchestra of professional, semi-professional and amateur players enjoying playing and regularly giving concerts of major works.

The Sinfonia became an independent society when the polytechnics received university status. We perform a variety of music: baroque, classical and modern although occasionally giving a lighter musical programme.

Although our complement is essentially that of a “Haydn / Mozart” orchestra the Sinfonia has been known to venture into the romantic period for large scale works. We have accompanied choral societies on a number of occasions, most recently in a fantastic concert in 2017 with the Stafford Choral Society

We currently have vacancies for Violins, Violas, Double Bass, a French Horn, Trumpets and a Bassoon.
